About Me

Born into a family of sewers, craftiness was part of my every day life growing up.  I remember vividly sitting on my mother's lap watching her sew, helping her with pattern weights to cut out fantastic one of a kind dresses for herself to match her 5 girls.  I have now carried on that tradition with my own children, making them costumes, pajamas, and various fun items.  

I used to joke with friends saying if I were to get a cut on my skin i would bleed pins and needles rather than blood.  I am very blessed that the sewing gene flowed down to me from both my maternal and paternal grandparents, down to both parents to myself and my children. 

At the age of 13 I received my own pink Singer Sewing Machine for my birthday.  I made pillows, skirts, dresses and eventually in high school made my own formal dresses.

In 2006 I started my own business "Sew Savvy by Brandy" selling items on eBay, Etsy and placed items for consignment in various boutiques around town.  Eventually venturing into teaching children and adults the basics of sewing at a local Quilting store, Home-school groups and after school groups.  My small business allowed me to be able to be a Stay at Home mom caring for my young children while providing extra income.

My children are now older in their teens and the sewing passion still thrives.  Whether its in making my own clothing to curb my love of vintage fashion or designing cosplay costumes for my daughter.
